SCWBEC was originally established in 1990 under the Suffolk County Office of Affirmative Action and Minority Affairs by a group of visionary business women. The goal was to break down the barriers to get women-owned businesses (WBEs) on the bid lists for County and other government agencies, and to make women owned businesses known to government and private industry.
With over 600 current members and associate members, the SCWBEC continues to grow and attract more women business owners to monthly meetings and annual events. Under the auspices of the Suffolk County Executive, SCWBEC serves all women business owners who either reside or maintain their business within Suffolk County.
